During Hurricane Harvey, the City of Mont Belvieu experienced significant flooding along bayous and drainage ditches. As a result of this flooding, the City's lift stations numbers 3, 11, and 14 were all inundated with approximately 12 feet of floodwaters, which damaged or destroyed all of the lift station electrical components, including emergency generators. The City has made repairs to the lift stations; however, the emergency generators are still inoperable. The City has developed an overall recovery plan that includes the elimination of the damaged lift stations, along with others in the collection system, via the construction of a deep gravity sewer system. The proposed use for this funding will be to supplement local funds to construct one phase of the new deep gravity sewer system.
