On June 6, 2019 at the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) annual conference in Denton, Texas, the City of Mont Belvieu won three TAMI Awards. The awards celebrate statewide excellence in communications, marketing, and public relations; This was Mont Belvieu’s first time to enter the contest.
"We are very excited that our Communications and Marketing Director Brian Ligon was recognized for his efforts," said City Manager Nathan Watkins. "His expertise in both marketing and communication are invaluable to the City of Mont Belvieu. The City is honored to have him as part of our family."
The City was awarded the TAMI Award (first place) in the following categories: Best Use of Social Media – Planned (population less than 100,000) for the #SpaceItOutMB mini-campaign that was aimed at encouraging Mont Belvieu’s residents to space out their trash cans and be more aware of what they put in them; Best Use of Social Media – Unplanned (population less than 100,000) for letting area residents know about last year’s shutdown of I-10 and ended up reaching over 450,000 people; Best Marketing Campaign (population less than 100,000) for the marketing and customer service materials for MB Link, Mont Belvieu's Fiber Network.
