TxDOT Shares Temporary Plan for I-10

During Tropical Storm Imelda several barges broke free on the San Jacinto River and crashed into the I-10 bridge causing significant damage. Since that time, traffic on the interstate has been shut down in both directions. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has shared their short-term plan to help some traffic flow through the area while repairs to the bridge are being made.

Eastbound - By Sunday, September 22, 2019, the eastbound lanes will be reconfigured to operate multiple lanes. Only eastbound traffic will operate on these lanes.

Westbound - The westbound lanes will remain closed indefinitely while the bridge undergoes major structural repairs. Westbound traffic will be diverted through other local roads until the repairs are complete.
