Tropical Storm Imelda had a profound impact on Chambers County; this includes some homeowners here in Mont Belvieu and their loved ones across our area. Chambers County has distributed a list of information to assist in recovery efforts. If you, or someone you know, was impacted by Tropical Storm Imelda and needs assistance, please use the categorized resource information below.
Reporting damage from the storm is vitally important. Only with an accurate count of property damage by homeowners can Chambers County get the assistance it will need from the State of Texas and the Federal Government. To help with this, the County has established a hotline where homeowners can report damage to their homes. Homeowners are encouraged to call 409-267-2441 to report their Tropical Storm Imelda damage. Homeowners can also call 409-267-2441 to be added to a volunteer-run cleanup assistance list
All shelters have been consolidated to the community building at White's Park Community Center - 225 White Park Road, Hankamer, TX 77650.
Citizens are advised to bring their debris to County box sites. We understand that this is not possible for all citizens; citizens who are unable to transport their debris are advised to place it beside the roadway. Box site resident collection stations will be open 7 days a week from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Please note – removal of this debris is not happening yet. We will begin the removal from County right-of-ways as soon as possible. The County cannot remove debris from private property. The County cannot remove commercial debris. More information will be provided once it becomes available.
Cleaning supplies are on the way to residents in need. This article will be updated with information as soon as we get it from Chambers County regarding where citizens can obtain supplies.
This is a list of road conditions from the County Engineer as of September 23:
- IH-10 is now open through Chambers County
- SH 65 is now open
- FM 1985 is closed
- SH 124 has water over the road and closures in multiple locations
- FM 1663 has water over the road and closures from 1410 to 1406
- Tolls have been waived on HWY 99 in Chambers County until further notice.

There have been a lot of questions regarding donations; what is needed and where to donate. At this time, Chambers County is indicating that cleaning supplies are the main need. NO CLOTHING DONATIONS ARE NEEDED. Donations can be delivered to the White's Park Shelter, the Hankamer Volunteer Fire Department, or to the Winnie-Stowell Park between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
