Storm Recovery

We know that for a lot of you the hardships haven't stopped since the power came back and the temperatures have warmed up. But, we have some good news that we hope makes the recovery process easier:

  • We have been notified by Chambers County Emergency Management that our area has met the threshold for individual FEMA assistance. Go to www.montbelvieu.net/stormcenter and click on the "recovery" page for links and information.
  • The City of Mont Belvieu will waive residential and commercial permits and fees for repairs directly related to storm damage repairs; this is only to bring structures back to their original condition. We hope this makes the recovery process faster and easier for our residents. For commercial repairs, we ask that you notify the Mont Belvieu Fire Department of repairs to the sprinkler system and/or fire alarms as an inspection will be necessary. Any improvements or upgrades to any facility beyond the original condition will need to be permitted.
    • It is the responsibility of the property owner to hire licensed and insured contractors to perform necessary work.
  • It is very important that you choose a reputable contractor for the work done in your home. Be wary of workers going door-to-door soliciting repair work. If you need assistance finding the right companies to complete repairs on your home or business, we would suggest reaching out to the West Chambers County Chamber of Commerce or Baytown Chamber of Commerce for suggestions in our area.

Storm Damage Survey

We are very thankful that temperatures are continuing to rise and our area is beginning to thaw. But, that also means our community will now begin realizing the extent of damage the freeze has caused. Yesterday, the Governor announced a statewide effort to collect damage assessment data for this unprecedented winter storm event. By taking this survey, you will help our community recover faster from the storm. Take the survey.
