Music Friendly Texas

Mont Belvieu is a Music Friendly Texas certified community!

Get ready to groove in the City of Mont Belvieu - where the beats are as lively as our spirit. As our city continues to grow, so does the live music scene within our community. We are thrilled that Mont Belvieu is a certified community in the Texas Music Office's "Music Friendly Texas" program. This isn't just a certification; it's our way of celebrating local music and Texas' musical landscape that's as unique as the state itself. Whether you're a local music lover or just passing through, we want you to join us in creating a soundtrack that truly captures the heart and soul of Mont Belvieu!

Mont Belvieu becoming a Music Friendly Texas certified community was a multi-step process all aimed at ensuring we, as a city, foster an environment that is conducive to the growth of the live music scene, music-related businesses, and music education in Mont Belvieu. Through the process, the City of Mont Belvieu hosted a Texas Music Office (TMO) sponsored Music Friendly Texas workshop, appointed a TMO liaison within the city staff, registered the city with the Texas Music Industry Database and committed via a council-approved Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) the sharing of music-related data, and, most importantly, established an advisory board, the Music Advisory Committee of Chambers County (MACCC or "The Mack") made up of representatives from the local music community as well as area music educators and other community stakeholders.

Why is music important to our community?

Just by going to see live music here in our area, you are giving a big boost to our local economy. It's true! A 2023 study by the Texas Music Office reports that music related businesses and music education combined account for just under 90,000 permanent jobs, $4.6 billion in annual earnings, and just over $10.8 billion in annual economic activity. Of that, the State of Texas realizes approximately $470 million in tax revenue from these impacts. The best news is, that all starts at the local level; by supporting our Mont Belvieu-area musicians, venues, and music schools, we keep a portion of that economic impact here at home.
